Halloween - the only time ugly people feel normal

I've gone as David Cameron this Halloween and I'm really getting into the spirit of it.

Sitting on my arse, doing bugger all, and explaining to the kids at the door that due to the shortage of sweets at the moment I'll have to take some of theirs..

Anyway, the kids and Halloween.   Negotiation was needed to encourage the kids to eat, i.e. eat or you do not go out.  Both kids, ate, finally.  And then they went out, my daughter dressed as Spiderella and my son as a Wizard (though he was king of the vampires at Nursery earlier in the day).  They loved it.  Sweets, dressing up, more sweets, glow sticks, more sweets, glow sticks, more sweets, E numbers, more sweets, and did I mention, more sweets?
Me, I did not get to share this.  I came back to put them to bed.  Tired, they were crying more than usual.
Hopefully they will not wake us up tonight!

My daughters book review

Afternoon all. Am still ill. I think that I am a bit better than before, but then I have just been sitting down for the last hour or so.

My daughter has just finished her book review. She got a book for half term and loved reading it. I did read it to her (and her brother) first, and I have to say, I was shocked at the ending!  They liked it as well, and the best bit was that there were no nightmares.  Unlike last night, but then that was my fault as the kids had watched Willow before hand and my daughter had tried to watch Sarah Jane, but had to stop on the episode she was watching as it was too distressing.  I do forget that she is only six at times.
She did have to write about it though, this being the book, not what she was watching.  The sheet of paper she wrote on was far shorter than the video's above.

My wife has been greating looking after me today, mind you, she is always great at looking after me, but she has been patient and understanding at just how pathetic I have been.  My son is a bit stir crazy as normally on a Sunday, they are taken out, which I have not been able to do today.

What I did manage to do though was watch the Arsenal highlights on Match of the Day.  It was great to beat Chelski, but out defensive performance was terrible.  If we play against a team that pays more attention to defending, we are screwed as we were opened up at times with ease and were lucky not to have let in more goals before half time.  And we were lucky not to have our goal keeper sent off in the second half.  Saying that, I am sure that the second Chelski goal involved a foul on Mertesacker.  Anyway, it is great to get a result against Chelski and get over the run of bad results that we have had against them, but we need to pay more attention to our back four.

Anyway, take care all.

At half time, the Chelsea team clearly got the wrong end of the stick when the manager said to go out in the second half and give it to Arsenal

Life is as simple as ABC - Arsenal Beat Chelsea .  Today is one of the few times I had a look at the score before Match of the Day.  I was very glad that I did so.  And now I have a big smile on my face.  I have to say, I did not expect to win against Chelski, especially playing away.  And that smile is needed as I am not feeling too well today.  I have been stuck with man flu.  Anyway, this week, since my last post, I got to watch the Arsenal-Bolton game in the League Cup, at the Grove, thanks to a patient I treated.  Just to note, it was not a gift, I still had to buy the ticket, but I doubt I would have got such a good seat if I had arranged it myself.  I was right by the pitch (and watching the highlights, I could see myself) which was great!  While we have had a terrible start to the season, and I did start to lose the faith, Wenger was right, things would get better.  Of course, we have to keep winning games.  While the win was great, at the end of the day, it was three points, and it is the same three points that we get for beating Stoke.  We have to retain focus, especially if we are to continue our League cup run.

Anyway, since my last post my Mother has been up to baby sit.  We picked her up and drove her into London so that she could pick a present, which ended up being Hello Kitty related.  While I have to say, I hate Hello Kitty, she loves it, and that is what matters.  Both of them loved having my mother up and it is always nice to see her spend time with the two kids.  Anyway, the two of them are now dressed up for Halloween.  We have stuff in the attic which I have brought down today and they are dressed up as Spiderilla and a wizard.  Last year when they did this, they chased me about to turn me into a frog!

The video above is of a Halloween Mummy that they got last year.  They love it.  I hate it.  They play it over and over and over.  It mysteriously was left upstairs when I took the Halloween box out of the loft, but this must have been subconcious as I do not remember taking it out.  I wish I had left it in the loft!
Man flu....women just don't get it.
What's the difference between Man Flu and Bieber Fever?
One of them is a terrible affliction that can make you wish you were dead.
The other is Man Flu.

What is a hung parliament? Job done.

Well, parliament has decided not to allow us the chance to vote (again) on the European question.  Not just our Prime Minister, but also the Leader of the opposition and the Deputy Prime Minister as well.

This does annoy me.

As noted in my last post, MP's need to come across as being reflecting the views of the people of the UK. Loads of people in the UK are in favour of having a referendum on continued EU membership, I being one of them.  I for one, think that MP's should have been allowed a free vote on the matter.

Now, this is strange as I am in favour of being in the EU. I do think that it has too many powers, but I am aware that it has been good for the UK in many ways (and bad in others). But, loads of people are against the EU and I do think that we deserve a chance to vote on it. A vote on the issue will end the debate on EU membership. That is unless the outcome is to leave the EU and then we either do well and stay out of the EU, or the economy will go even further down the toilet and we will have to rejoin it.

In fact, there is only one reason I can see for not having a referendum. And that is because of the lies and half truths that are spread by those who are against EU membership. When it comes to the arguments for having a referendum about being in the EU, many of those who are for one claim that parties such as the Lib Dems had a commitment to one in their last election manifesto. They did not though they had argued for one before the Lisbon Treaty was passed.
And it is only beacuse of things like that that I have some sympathy with Parliament. But I still am in favour of a referendum on being in or out of the EU.

Nut for those who think that the UK will do well by being out of the EU, let me remind you Nissan and Honda would leave, these being just two major manufacturing companies that export to mainland Europe.  Leave the EU and we would be forced to watch much of our manufacturing industry leave the UK as well.

David Cameron: "I don't want a referendum on Europe." There's no "I" in democracy David....

Well, it has been an interesting week or so.

First of all, Libya is free of the dictator we had started to be friends with again.  After he backed the IRA and (according to some) was behind the destruction of a airliner over a Scottish town.  The bottom line is that Gaddafi was probably murdered after his capture.  It was wrong, but to be honest, I do not care.

And of course, while I type this, there is a debate in Parliament on having a referendum on EU membership.  For the record, I am in favour of being in the EU.  I think that he EU should be reformed so that it allows memberstates to make more laws, with less pan-European harmonisation taking place.  Europe is made up of different states with different laws and cultures, and I think that diversity is there to be valued.  However, I do think that while I would vote that we should remain in the EU, I think that we, the people of the United Kingdom deserve a vote on either being in the EU or leaving it.  Having a vote on renegotiation of the terms of our membership is a bit silly though as that would not result in anything.  Those who we elect to represent us should allow us to have a vote on this.  If we vote to leave the EU, either the UK is better for it, in which case that is a good thing, or things get worse and we have to re-enter, which then settles the argument either way.  Obviously, I would prefer a vote to remain within the EU, but WE DESERVE A VOTE!!!  If Parliament does not allow one, it distances itself from the electorate at a time when people still have a lack of faith in Parliament, in part, due to the issues with Expenses.

Anyway, just saw 6-1 derful goals on Match of the Day.  I heard that Greater Manchester police are appealing for witnesses after 11 men in sky blue shirts handed out a severe beating in the (S)old Trafford area of Manchester around 4pm on Sunday afternoon. The police can be contacted on Manchester 61 61 61.  And on the topic of that game,  ManUre were missing their best defender. That's why they lost (some say). But, Alex Ferguson hopes to have Howard Webb back for next game.

It was a weekend of shock results in the premiership.  Who would have thought Arsenal would be scoring three against Stoke.  I for one did not.  I will be going to the Grove tomorrow to watch the reserves lose to Bolton in the Carling Cup.  Of course, I hope we win, but with our season so far...

But to the real reason I have made this post.  The kids.  We have been to Legoland today.  We were a bit late getting down there, which meant more traffic, but we did get there.  And as usual, the kids loved it.  With it being half term, there were loads of people there, which meant long waits for rides, but they were really good.  It is only natural that they will play up a bit, and they did, but considering everything they were brilliant.  Not like one boy that we all saw whack his mother in a queue as she ahd not noticed it had moved on.  They know what would happen if they did something like that, and just to make sure, my wife did mention that if they had done that, we would have been on the way back home!  I think one of their favourites was the Scarab bouncer, but they loved other ones as well such as the Desert Chase.  They have been on Desert Chase before, but this time they noticed two girls on one bit while they were waiting, and they went onto that part of the ride, and boy did they love that.  In fact they loved it so much, when they went on another ride that they loved on previous visits, they did not like is as much as they had in the past.  Anyway, time to go and rest as tomorrow, I get to spend another day with the kids.

Gain an extra hour of life by simply Sky+ing X-Factor and fast forwarding the adverts....

Afternoon all.
Things have been interesting since my last post with two birthday parties for my daughter who is now aged six. One was at home and my wife seems to have finally learned the reasons not to have loads of screaming girls at home. In addition, you could argue why she had this one as she also had one at Jungle Adventure. But she had a great time.

When it comes to how the two are doing, they are doing really well.  In the last few weeks, I have been able to take time to hear my daughter read, and she makes me so proud when she does so.  Yesterday, I used a game of Snakes and Ladders to teach her a few tricks with maths and she learned them and used them.  That was before I went to work though.

Today, we have spent a great day together.  The kids were taken to Castle Park again, which they loved.  Of course the last time, my son fell from a great height (for him), this time that did not happen.  My wife got to see just how high he fell from.  She was not amused!  But the kids had a great time, both playing on the climbing frame as well as going on the slides and so many other things.  On getting back, they both spent time making necklaces and have calmed down watching Strictly Come Dancing, which they both love.

Anyway, time to go, and I am going to really have to take more time to work out some interesting details for my posts.

It's 'rock week' on the X factor.

I can't wait for the Mega Death cover after the break.

Tonight X-Factor are getting rid of the most useless one in every four.... Please let it be Louis.

Well, it has been a good day with the kids.  Yesterday I was doing loads of vaccinations (the flu jab) and got mine.  Went to work again late last night, and today, I felt unwell (due to the flu jab).  So I was not able to do much, but I did get to spend time with the kids.  Got to listen to my daughter reading, got to help my son learn about reading, and they loved to play on the Wii.  Anyway, have to go.  Take care all.

George Osborne is a 5ex god. He single-handedly is f**king the entire of the UK.

Quick post before I go to bed.  Once again, I got to take my daughter to school.  My son was not well, having to have to go to to see the doctor about an eye infection.  We got to see a medical student at first, which was interesting for me as in my last job, I used to teach students.  Anyway, long story short, he loved the attention, and is now on antibiotics.

Taking my daughter to school was lovely.  It was raining a bit and she had a chance to be driven there, but wanted to walk in with me.  The only thing is the heart ache I feel when she runs with glee to the teacher and the queue.  Normally on a Wednesday she has a dancing class, but she was not able to have one today so got to ride back on her scooter.  She loved it.

Anyway have to tidy and get ready for bed.  Goodnight.

So we lost

Well, the match did not go as well as I had hoped. Of course, it would have been nice if the referee had noticed that the first goal had been scored with a deliberate handball and then sent of the already booked player for that. But then, Arsenal should have won that game. We had plenty of chances. And it was a lack of concentration that resulted in the second goal. Anyway, the bottom line is that we lost.
So, the kids. They were good while I watched the match. It did mean that I was not able to swear as much as I would have liked.  Afterwards, it was the usual of playing with them and reading to them at night.  At the moment, my daughter loves a book called Funnybones.
She is going to love it when she sees this video.

Playing the scum

Quick post before the match starts.

Have had a great day with ths kids so far.  Last night we were entertaining so the kids did not get much quality time with us.  My wife was cooking, I had to be at work in the morning and in the afternoon, while I got to play with the kids a bit, it was more stuff to do with the house.  Though, thanks to the weather, they had a great time out in the garden.
Today, we have not had the energy to make the most out of the weather we are enjoying.  Which is a shame as I love the sun.  We spent the morning relaxing, watching Doctor Who (both last weeks episode, and this weeks one), and the X factor, and also playing about with the kids.

A while ago, we went to Legoland and the kids got some LEGO figures.  But, they did not remember they had them.  So yesterday, while tidying in the house, I found, hidden away, the bag of their new LEGO figures.  I put it away with some of their other toys, and waited for them to notice them.  Several hours later they finally noticed them, but only once it was pointed out that there was a bad with something in it!

Anyway, have to go, I am really nervous about this game...
