30 days to go and counting!

Morning all.

I am back from a weeks holiday with the kids. And I had a great time there. We went back to North Norfolk, staying again at Cranmer Country Cottages and loved it.

We took the kids to the beach on most days. And boy did they love it. The first day, it was warm, but very windy. Inland that is though. On the coast, while the sun was shining, it was very windy. And luckily we took the kids there clad in rain coats and wrapped up warm. Others went there not dressed for the wind, and sadly had to leave all to quickly. But the kids loved it. And apart from one day when it was raining (we went to Norwich instead) we went to the beach every day. The kids insisted that I was not allowed to read, and instead had to make a sandcastle. So I dug a moat, piled up the sand to make a mound, and then used the buckets (when they were not filling them up with water,, sand or shells) to make the towers.

And when I thought that it was starting to look good, one or both of them would come along and destroy the towers! But they had fun, loads of it. Mind you, take a two and a four year old to the beach and what else would happen?

As it was not the school holidays, they got to play with other kids on the beach of a similar age which they loved as well.

All in all, a relaxing holiday.

And now back to work. For another thirty days...

I was looking out my kitchen window when I saw some kids wearing England shirts kicking a hedgehog around like a football in the street.

I was going to call the RSPCA, but the hedgehog was 2-0 up by halftime.

The bird found the safest place in the stadium during the England game; the Algerians net.

Morning all. 41 days to go!

Just thought I would mention that in case anyone is interested!  Anyway, let me get on to what has been going on.  I have been watching the World Cup, watching the game yesterday where England drew against Algeria.  I just hope that the fans there continue to support England.  Booing them when they are not playing that well is not the way to support them.  Lift the team, and the team will lift the fans.

The post title refers to a bird that rested on the Algerian goal net during the game, and was not troubled that much.

Anyway, the kids are now up.  We are back in Norfolk, and in Cranmer.  We are staying in a different cottage to where we were before.  And it is raining right now.  As the aerial is not working properly, I can not keep the kids occupied with Cbeebies and instead have to rely on what else is on terrestrial television.

But I do love them!

I forgot to post that on the weekend, the kids saw the Red Arrows flying back from Her Majesty, the Queen's birthday celebrations.  As I am looking the videos to upload on the links, the kids are sitting next to me watching them!

During the week, we took the kids to see our parents.  My son and daughter are getting more used to Dougal, the dog that lives at my mothers.  And of course, they loved being at my wife's parents.  We left them there to watch a film!  The first one that we had watched in ages.

Anyway, I am going to have to go before they kill each other.  Lets see if I can upload a video that they will like...

On reflection, mirrors are a very good invention.

I am sitting with a glass of wine by my side, watching Julie & Julia with my wife.  A very interesting film, one that I will have to take time to review when I get the chance.  Yesterday we watched Love Happens.  Another interesting film, though not as good as Julie & Julia.

Anyway, the film has finished.  I am on holiday for now, but have to go into work anyway tomorrow to finish off some paperwork.  And as of today, I have another 46 days to go!

Not much time to post so I have to be quick.  Kids posted a birthday card to my brother, who's birthday it is this week.

I will post a video for him, and one for the kids.  And if my brother reads this post, sorry!

A zookeeper approaches three boys standing near the lions' cage and asks them their names and what they're up to.
The first boy says, "My name's Tommy and I was trying to feed peanuts to the lions."
The second boy says, "My name's Billy and I was trying to feed peanuts to the lions."
The third boy says, "My name is Peanuts."

48 days to go!  Not that I am counting of course!

Right, let me post the picture that I saw today.  A bit sexist of course!

Mind you, my daughter is proving statements like that wrong.  She loves playing Snakes and Ladders.  And of course, by playing it, she learns.  She keeps beating me though.

The kids have water pistols.  The sun has been out, and of course, we have a garden.  Put them together, and a father who is taking garden waste out to be picked up for recycling is a fair target for them.  Of course, when I had finished doing that, I was able to shoot them back.  One very soaked afternoon later...

William Gallas has said he refuses to talk to the press during the World Cup.

So, who did he tell that to?

Can love overcome hatred?

Morning all.

58 days to go by the way.  If you are interested!

Right, now, what has happened?  Well, I had to work on Saturday.  And the kids were taken down to see my wife's parents.  Which meant that I was able to take them to see my mother on Sunday, and as it was my father's birthday, I took them to see him.  Only a short visit, literally a few minutes.  I have not seen him in a few years.  In fact this was the first time that he got to see his Grandson and only the second time that he saw his Granddaughter.  Afterwards, my daughter was asking why my mother and father do not live together.  Which I had to answer.  I have made a promise to answer all her questions.  I am not sure if that is a good idea or not though!  But while at my mothers house, once again, they had fun with Dougal.  He loves the kids.  And is fascinated by them.  It was interesting to see him try to sniff my son's nappy, toxic though it is!

Anyway, I have not been in a good mood all the time.  The murder of the peace activists who were attacked in international waters has shocked me.  I did not expect Israel to take such action, even though the siege on Gaza is barbaric, I never thought that they would resort to piracy and murder.

The big shame is that I am now seeing a lot of anti-Jewish sentiment on the Internet.  I just wish people would realise that the actions of Israel do not represent the actions and views of all Jews.  Anti-semitic attacks have taken place in the past when Israel has taken action that the international community has been against.  I hope and pray that the same does not happen now either.  Hatred begets hatred, and will not bring about a just peace to all in the Holy Land.
