David Cameron: "I don't want a referendum on Europe." There's no "I" in democracy David....

Well, it has been an interesting week or so.

First of all, Libya is free of the dictator we had started to be friends with again.  After he backed the IRA and (according to some) was behind the destruction of a airliner over a Scottish town.  The bottom line is that Gaddafi was probably murdered after his capture.  It was wrong, but to be honest, I do not care.

And of course, while I type this, there is a debate in Parliament on having a referendum on EU membership.  For the record, I am in favour of being in the EU.  I think that he EU should be reformed so that it allows memberstates to make more laws, with less pan-European harmonisation taking place.  Europe is made up of different states with different laws and cultures, and I think that diversity is there to be valued.  However, I do think that while I would vote that we should remain in the EU, I think that we, the people of the United Kingdom deserve a vote on either being in the EU or leaving it.  Having a vote on renegotiation of the terms of our membership is a bit silly though as that would not result in anything.  Those who we elect to represent us should allow us to have a vote on this.  If we vote to leave the EU, either the UK is better for it, in which case that is a good thing, or things get worse and we have to re-enter, which then settles the argument either way.  Obviously, I would prefer a vote to remain within the EU, but WE DESERVE A VOTE!!!  If Parliament does not allow one, it distances itself from the electorate at a time when people still have a lack of faith in Parliament, in part, due to the issues with Expenses.

Anyway, just saw 6-1 derful goals on Match of the Day.  I heard that Greater Manchester police are appealing for witnesses after 11 men in sky blue shirts handed out a severe beating in the (S)old Trafford area of Manchester around 4pm on Sunday afternoon. The police can be contacted on Manchester 61 61 61.  And on the topic of that game,  ManUre were missing their best defender. That's why they lost (some say). But, Alex Ferguson hopes to have Howard Webb back for next game.

It was a weekend of shock results in the premiership.  Who would have thought Arsenal would be scoring three against Stoke.  I for one did not.  I will be going to the Grove tomorrow to watch the reserves lose to Bolton in the Carling Cup.  Of course, I hope we win, but with our season so far...

But to the real reason I have made this post.  The kids.  We have been to Legoland today.  We were a bit late getting down there, which meant more traffic, but we did get there.  And as usual, the kids loved it.  With it being half term, there were loads of people there, which meant long waits for rides, but they were really good.  It is only natural that they will play up a bit, and they did, but considering everything they were brilliant.  Not like one boy that we all saw whack his mother in a queue as she ahd not noticed it had moved on.  They know what would happen if they did something like that, and just to make sure, my wife did mention that if they had done that, we would have been on the way back home!  I think one of their favourites was the Scarab bouncer, but they loved other ones as well such as the Desert Chase.  They have been on Desert Chase before, but this time they noticed two girls on one bit while they were waiting, and they went onto that part of the ride, and boy did they love that.  In fact they loved it so much, when they went on another ride that they loved on previous visits, they did not like is as much as they had in the past.  Anyway, time to go and rest as tomorrow, I get to spend another day with the kids.
