Homophobia and my daughter

My daughter has been offended by homophobia.  We were watching something on the television and she was convinced that what we were watching was not set now.  The reason for this was the level of homophobia which was present towards one of the characters.  Both children are against such discrimination and accept that people are different.

I felt it important that she was made aware that homophobia still exists, not just locally but internationally.  When we discussed this, the recent controversy over education about sexuality had not occurred.  So I showed her some of the actions of the Westbro Baptist Church, which understandably disgusted her. However, the actions of students when concerns over educating pupils about homosexuality were raised by some appear to have warmed her heart.
