I'm getting beside myself with worry. If Scotland vote for independence Britain won't have a curling team at the next winter Olympics.

Interesting is what I could call the debate about Scotland leaving the union.

One discussion is if Scotland gets to keep the British Pound, that is an interesting one.  Scotland, if it leaves the union can ask to keep it, and the rest of the United Kingdom can always say no.  There is the argument that the Channel Islands as well as the Isle of Man are able to use the pound, but they are Crown Dependencies. They have power over internal politics, but not so when it comes to dealing with other nations as well as defence issues.

And of course that leads onto one of the other arguments.  Membership of the EU, as these Crown dependencies are not truly part of the EU.  Those who want to leave the union argue that Scotland is already part of the EU.  An argument that Spain, for understandable reasons, refuses to accept.  But, Scotland, outside the United Kingdom, would have to argue with all the other members of the EU that it should be automatically considered to be part of the EU. I doubt that these nations would all agree on this which could lead to an interesting situation on the border with regards to trade, and possibly even passports!  But the most fascinating result of this would be that a Europhillic Scotland could be out of the EU leaving behind Britain which would become even more Europhobic (when it comes to the percentage of the electorate) and which would want to leave!

Me, I want Scotland to remain as part of the United Kingdom, I think that we are better together and that we would both be weaker divided.  I hope that come the vote, we remain together.

Mark Zuckerberg's to do list: 1) Buy WhatsApp for $19bn 2) Turn it off so people use FB chat

Today has been a good day.  Not only did Arsenal win, but I got to have a lovely walk with the kids.  As those who follow this know, Wednesday was a great day.  Yesterday we entertained and this morning I was back at work.  I got back from work to find my wife flagging, so after lunch, I took the kids out for a walk to Gosbecks Archaeological park.  They loved it, though they were very tired when it came to watching The Voice today.  As I have said on many on occasion, times like this are precious, even more so when they enjoy it!

I was flashed by a speed camera going through Staines today. No idea why, I was only doing 30 knots.

Was a good day today.  Not one for football, but good otherwise.

Spent it in London with the family, we went down to watch Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs, which was unbooked until today. Fortunately we arrived in the morning and there were a few tickets left for the morning performance.  And then we spent the rest of the day along the South Bank.  The kids enjoyed the day and are now sleeping.  I am not sure if they loved the play most or having their faces painted.  My daughter did like the envious looks that other girls gave her as she was painted as a leopard with touches of glitter, my son got to be painted as a wolf and spent the rest of the day growling at me after deciding that I was one of the three little pigs!

Russian premier Vladimir Putin has stated that gay people will be 'welcome' at the Winter Olympics in Sochi. 'The archers will need targets,' he added.

Well, as everyone who follows my posts know, I think Putin is a great guy. (And just in case anyone thinks that I would like Polonium in my tea, the answer is no.)  It will be interesting to see how Russia deals with the protests considering the way that those who have acted against Putin have been jailed for one reason or another.  And considering this, it is surprising that Russia was awarded the Winter Olympics.  Mind you, Beijing was given the Olympics in 2008 and the world cup in 2022 is to be held in Qatar the original bid for it to be in the summer. I do not think that any nation that has hosted the Olympics has a perfect human rights record, but some are more honest about things than others.

And on the topic of sport, Arsenal won on the weekendWe were slaughtered on the weekend before against Liverpool, our players appearing mostly not to be trying after an onslaught in the first twenty minutes.  A draw against ManUre followed, but revenge against Liverpool was sweet, even if we had to thank the ref for it!

But I did not get to watch the match as yesterday we were out in Southwold.  On Saturday, my wife pointed out that the next day was going to be sunny and so a trip out was planned.  This meant that my son missed yet another rubgy practice session, but it was a great day.  We got to spend time on the pier there, a place that I have not been to before despite many trips to the town.  The kids loved it, they bought some rock and also some things which I am sure that they will not lose for a few days...

Anyway, it is getting late.  Have to go now.

It's no wonder David Cameron doesn't want Scotland to leave the United Kingdom. At this rate Scotland will be the only place above the flood line.

Tonight, I am waiting to see the result from the game, listening to updates on Radio Five Live as well as keeping up to date on the Guardian website.  The kids are asleep and my wife is not listening to the football with me!

So, since the last post, not too much has happened at home.  I have been spending a lot more time with the family the time with the kids being amazing, though last weekend I was back working on the weekend, and it looks that I will be working on weekends again, though this weekend work appears to be a lot better for me and my normal job compared to before.

The weather has stopped my son from playing rugby as he has been unwell most weekends.  Anyway, have to go, a free kick is about to be taken...
